Blake Shelton was named the Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards last year, so there’s no way he wouldn’t show up to defend his title in 2013.
The only problem? Blake’s schedule over at The Voice conflicted with the date of the CMAs.
So Blake took matters into his own hands and tells Access Hollywood he picked up the phone to convince an NBC head honcho to delay The Voice’s live show.
“I would like to sit here and tell you it was like, you know, John Wayne calling… but have you ever… have you ever seen a girl cry to get out of a speeding ticket? It was more like that type of begging and pleading and crying.”
The 47th Annual CMA Awards airs Wednesday, Nov. 6 on ABC.
