Kenny Chesney’s new album Life on a Rock almost never had a life at all.

The 10-song collection, which is due out April 30^th, is now available for pre-order on iTunes.

But the country megastar reveals he never planned to release the music, and something made him change his mind.

“These were songs I’d written about moments that happened that I didn’t want to lose,” Kenny says. “They were for…me and my friends. And the more I listened, the more I realized that everyone has these moments. I figured I wasn’t alone, and this was probably the richest thing I could share with all those music fans living their life in my songs.”

Fans who pre-order the Life on a Rock before it drops can instantly download a new song from the album called “Lindy.”

Kenny launches his No Shoes Nation Tour with opening acts Eric Church, Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves this weekend (3/17) in Tampa, Fla.
