Country singer Mindy McCready has died in an apparent suicide.

“It is with the deepest sadness we say goodbye to an extraordinary and gifted talent, a daughter, a mother and friend, Miss Mindy McCready,” a rep for the singer releases in a statement.

“Our attention at this time is devoted to the needs and care of Mindy’s family,” the statement continues. “As Mindy spent much of her life in the public eye, we respectfully request your consideration and sensitivity to enable friends and family this time of ‘quiet.’”

Authorities in Cleburne County, Arkansas, say the singer killed her late boyfriend’s dog before turning the gun on herself Sunday, Feb. 17. The dog’s body was found next to McCready’s on the same porch her late boyfriend was found dead Jan. 13.

The singer’s boyfriend, David Wilson, 34, is believed to have committed suicide as well. No details surrounding his passing have been disclosed.

Before her death, McCready checked out of a court-ordered substance-abuse rehabilitation center. While her official cause of death has not been released, authorities say “all indicators” point to suicide.

McCready – mother of Zander, 6, and Zayne, 9 months – was 37.

The singer’s rep says friends and family are in preliminary stages of organizing a Nashville memorial for the late singer.
