Reba dropped by Katie Couric’s daytime talk show Katie this week to dish on her biggest words of wisdom for her future daughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson.

The country legend says she’s “thrilled to death” to welcome Kelly into the clan and also revealed her best advice for her stepson Brandon Blackson and his future superstar bride.

“The greatest advice ever is open communication,” she says. “You’ve got to have that communication. I used to…not speak for a while…and then when I’d tell him what’s wrong, he’d say ‘That’s it?! That’s why you’ve been sulked up for three days?’”

Reba also went on to say her own marriage to manager Narvel Blackstock is a pretty good example for Kelly and Brandon.

“We work together. We play together. We’re best friends. We’re lovers. We’re buddies. I think that’s just better to set by example than by giving them a lecture,” Reba says.
