lady-antebellum-on-leno-2013It’s not the monsters under the bed that have Lady Antebellum tossing and turning – but a late-night performance does!

The trio gave their first-ever televised performance of their brand-new single “Downtown” Monday night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and while the band has had numerous late-night performances, this one in particular had them “extra nervous.”

“It’s not just country fans. It’s a lot of people. A lot of different ages. A lot of different types of people,” Lady A’s Dave Haywood tells Country Weekly.

But along with the jitters of a performing a song for the first time in front of a big crowd, Dave in particular was excited to once again visit Leno.

“When I was in college, I would stay up with my roommates every night,” he says, “and we’d watch all the late-night shows.” Catch Lady A’s full performance of “Downtown” in the last segment of the full episode of The Tonight Show below.

Downtown is the highest charting single of Lady A’s career. With 109 radio stations adding the song to their playlists today, Lady A storms the charts at No. 25 on Billboard and No. 34 on Mediabase.
