Keith Urban on Idol: ‘We Put the Fun in Dysfunction’
Posted: Jan 16, 2013
VIDEO: Keith Urban takes to the American Idol dance floor for the first time tonight, but one question is still unanswered: Will the judges jive? The country megastar recently dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to dish on why the new ensemble has had a little trouble finding their groove.
“You’ve got four genuinely passionate people and we get thrown on the dance floor and said, ‘Alright, dance together, go,’” Keith says. “A few toes get stepped on…but by the time we got to Hollywood week, we got a really good flow going.”
But before Hollywood week hits America’s TVs, the audition rounds kick things off tonight, and Keith went on to explain why he’s felt at home from the beginning.
“It feels like I’ve joined this band in some ways,” he says. “You know, we’ve got two girl singers, and there’s two guys in the band…it just feels like a band to me.”
In related news… who will be the next American Idol?
Randy Jackson and Nicki Minaj have already placed their bets.
“Girls, do not disappoint the Dawg. I think it’s the girls’ year,” Randy says. Adds Nicki, “The girls are exceptional. I mean, a girl will definitely win this year, I think.”
The competition begins tonight on FOX.
