• Carrie Underwood Named Top Touring Country Female in 2012

    carrie-underwood-on-stageCarrie Underwood made a lasting impression while playing 62 sold-out shows last year on her “Blown Away Tour.”

    The singer was named the top female country touring artist for 2012, according to Pollstar’s Year-End chart.

    Carrie performed for over a half a million fans this past year, and she wrapped 2008 and 2010 as the top-ranked female country touring artist as well.

    She will launch the second leg of the Blown Away Tour on February 13th in Colorado Springs, with Hunter Hayes continuing as the special guest.

    When it comes to concert ticket sales in 2012, country music was nearly a sell-out.

    In fact, country artists accounts for 32 percent of the top 25 artists on Pollstar’s new list calculating the highest concert ticket sales.

    Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw’s joint Brothers of the Sun tour leads the pack at No. 7 with 1.1 million tickets sold, trailed closely by Jason Aldean at No. 8 with more than 981,000.

    Eric Church ranks at No. 11, followed by Lady Antebellum at No. 12 and Brad Paisley at No. 13, all of whom moved more than 750,000 tickets. Rascal Flatts came in at No. 19 with nearly 631,000.

    Rounding out the top 25 are Zac Brown Band at No. 21 with more than 584,000 sold and Toby Keith at No. 25 with sales exceeding 558,000.
