Better late than never, right? Jon Jones of Eli Young Band and his wife Sarah welcomed their first child on New Year’s Eve, one week later than expected.

Sarah gave birth to Hudson Lennon Jones on Dec. 31 at 1:30 p.m. outside of Fort Worth, Texas. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz. and is 21 inches long.

“We are ecstatic about this beautiful baby boy that came into our world,” the couple tells People. “Words cannot describe our excitement and joy.”

Mom, dad and baby left the hospital four hours after the birth and made it  home in time to watch the New Year’s ball drop. The rest of the Eli Young Band even let Jon take the night off.

“The rest of the band went on stage without me for the second time in our careers,” Jon says of his bandmates, who played a scheduled show in Oklahoma that evening. “They are truly great friends for letting Sarah and I share this wonderful experience together.”
