It’s only the second day of 2013, and Jason Aldean is already planning new career moves. And the move is to the world of acting.

The country rocker will make his acting debut at Sundance Film Festival in the movie Sweetwater, which also stars Hollywood heavy weights January Jones and Ed Harris.

In early 2012, the rumor mill rumbled that the country megastar would begin to dabble in drama, and Jason even hinted of Sweetwater during one interview.

“We had a movie script that came last year,” he said, “a western style kind of thing that Ed Harris was slated to play in so we’ve had a couple of things like that to have come along.”

The flick reportedly tells the tale of a prostitute, played by January Jones, who turns doting farmer’s wife and is forced to seek justice when a power-hungry prophet unleashes violence in Sweetwater.

No word yet on Jason’s role. Sweetwater hits Sundance later this month.
