Scotty McCreery’s Christmas this year is a very presidential affair, and he’s opening his Christmas in Washington diary to share some of the highlights.

The country superstar reveals to People magazine that his trip to D.C. was a quick one, but he still managed to fit in some sightseeing before his big debut in front of the President and his family.

Scotty paid the Capitol Christmas tree a visit and also dropped by to see the young patients at the Children’s National Medical Center, the hospital that benefits from the Christmas in Washington concert.

At the show, Scotty performed “Santa Claus Is Back in Town” and shared the stage with co-host Conan O’Brien and the iconic Diana Ross.

The North Carolina State freshman even bonded with President Obama over basketball, telling the POTUS “When you make your annual NCAA bracket this year, show the Wolfpack some love.”

The Christmas in Washington concert airs Dec. 21 at 8PM Eastern on TNT.
