Taylor Swift has crisscrossed the globe recently in England, Australia and even Japan, but no matter where the international starlet is, she walks the walk and talks the talk, literally.

When she dropped by an Australian talk show this week, Taylor revealed she always makes a point to learn at least some of the language of whatever country she’s in.

“It’s just part of going there—knowing how to say thank you for coming to the show, how are you feeling, are you having fun,” Taylor says.

She snagged three awards at the recent MTV Europe Music Awards in Germany, and she, of course, thanked the audience in German.

“I try to make an effort to let them know I’m here, I’m happy to be here, I know a few things you guys say.”

After presenting and performing “I Knew You Were Trouble” at the recent Australian Aria Awards, the next stop for Taylor is Dec. 5’s Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!, which she’s co-hosting with LL Cool J.
