New American Idol judge Nicki Minaj may have no problem firing back at her haters, but fellow judge Keith Urban is keeping the peace.

The country superstar told E! News that the competition brings out different opinions from its already highly opinionated judging panel.

“The thing about the four of us is we hear very different things and see very different things,” he says. “And for every time we could react to the same thing, there were definitely times we thought that a person was completely insane.”

Aside from all the headline-making disagreements among judges, Keith goes on to mention he’s been pleasantly surprised by the amount of talent the panel has already discovered.

“There were guys that came out and sang, and you never would have expected the voice from them,” he says.

Keith is also preparing for a 2013 tour with opening acts Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch. The first date is after Idol has wrapped July 18 in Cincinnati.
