Rascal Flatts delivered the LOLs last night when they dropped by Chelsea Lately, and the boys also delivered some new news about the mega star success of Blake Shelton.

Gary, Jay and Joe Don revealed Blake is their former opening act… and without the Flatts, the Shelton would be nothing!

“You guys are sort of responsible for his career,” Chelsea says. Gary quickly quips, “Absolutely. Every ounce of it.” Adds Jay, “We got him to cut that nasty hair. We got him to move around on stage a little bit.”

The group joked Blake looked like “Billy Ray Shelton for a long time,” alluding to the well-known mullet ‘do of Billy Ray Cyrus in the 90s.

Tonight Rascal Flatts revisit their buddy Blake as performers on his hit show The Voice, and they told us they’re singing to impress.

“We’re really, really excited about it. It’s going to be great to stand there and sing for Blake, and I don’t know whose team – but I hope somebody picks us!”
