Scotty McCreery has become a world-class traveler since his big American Idol win back in 2011, but there’s one thing the country megastar has learned to never leave home without.

Ever the 18 year old, Scotty reveals to Country Aircheck that even on the road, his phone never leaves his side.

“If I don’t have my cell phone when I travel, I go insane,” he says. “I got to stay connected to my friends back home and my Twitter family.”

And while the singer says there’s no place like his Garner, North Carolina home, there’s one place in particular he never passes up an opportunity to visit.

“I love Boston – Quincy Market, Red Sox, Boston Harbor. My dad grew up north of there in southern Maine. The whole area is just beautiful,” Scotty adds.

And speaking of travel, he revealed the one thing he’d want to buy from airline’s popular Skymall catalog.

“Those Big Foot statues look pretty cool,” he says. “I’d love to stick one in my backyard and surprise my dad.”
