After a big year full of highs and even more highs for Eric Church, is Eric Church hanging up his ball camp and aviators to take a break?

Well, just for a little while.

The country superstar says he’s planning a light work load in 2013. Eric reveals to Billboard magazine he wants to take some time off to make sure the follow-up to his smash album Chief is no musical misstep.

In fact, he says he isn’t “anywhere close” to releasing a new album.

“I’m going to be out of the spotlight next year, really,” he says. “I want to see if I can write some songs and see where we can go, musically.”

Eric mentions he’ll never hurry along the process of making music.

“I’m waiting on the creative process to tell me what’s next,” he says. “I still think there has to be evolution… because I think the best bands and best artists do that.”

“Creepin’,” now gaining ground on the charts, is Eric’s follow-up single to the chart-topping “Springsteen.”
