The sequel to the billion-dollar blockbuster Avengers is officially on!

But how long will superhero fans have to wait to see Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson back in their super-suits?

Disney just announced it will release Avengers 2 on May 1, 2015.

While nearly three years is an awfully long time to wait for the next Avengers, there are plenty of other superhero flicks to fulfill fanatics’ appetites.

Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy are all scheduled to hit the box office between now and 2015.

And something else worth noting”¦ Avengers 2 will hit theaters around the same time as the long-awaited Justice League ensemble.
