Mariah Carey Officially Named ‘American Idol’ Judge

After weeks of speculation, Mariah Carey is officially the newest pop diva to join the American Idol judging ranks…
FOXÂ entertainment president Kevin Reilly made the announcemnt “only hours ago” in Beverly Hills.
“It’s the biggest recording artist than any of these [singing competition] shows have ever had,” says Reilly. “It’s an artist many of these contestants have tried to emulate.”
Mariah’s manager is longtime Idol judge Randy Jackson, who – despite rumors – is now expected to stay on board for season 12 of the show.
As far as who will fill the final empty seat, former contestant Adam Lambert is speculated to join the judging panel next, but no official announcement has been made.
