• Two Judges are Out on ‘Idol’… But Who’s In?

    Posted: Jul 13, 2012

Both Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have announced they will not return to American Idol next season.

Tyler announced his exit yesterday, and now Jennifer Lopez is calling it quits.

J-Lo revealed to co-worker Ryan Seacrest Friday morning her plans to end her Idol run.

“I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do,” she says.

Tyler cited similar reasons this week for leaving the show after two seasons next to Lopez and longtime judge Randy Jackson.

“After some long, hard thoughts,” Tyler says, “I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress, American Idol, before she boils my rabbit.”

What’s the fate of last-man-standing Randy Jackson?

Rumor is he’ll return to the show in a new role as a mentor for the contestants. But no official word on that yet.

The newest name rumored to fill one of the empty chairs on Idol is Mariah Carey, who is reportedly is “serious talks” with show producers.
